  1. Hi Esther,
I love your selection of tools, especially because you are taking into account your audience including English Language Learners. I appreciate that your approach took into account the use of the tool from both a teacher and student perspective.

I also appreciate the way in which you considered collaboration as an important aspect of the process as well. The chat aspect of the site is a great addition to learning experience. This makes it collaborative within and outside the classroom as well. This would be an awesome tool to connect on a more global level with other classes who are learning/working on the same topic.

Your feedback based on how much support the site offers is great to know. I would love to see samples or hear more about the experience of actually using it in the classroom. Have you tried it with students yet?

    Definitely keep us posted!

  2. Hi Esther, Cacoo is so cool! I really got a lot out of watching your tutorial. I love that you related the functionality to Common Core learning. At the end of the day, we need to make sure we're using these tools to support student learning and outcomes, not just for our own entertainment. I also love that you brought it back to collaboration.

  3. Hi Esther,
Thanks for sharing these tools with us. I had not used Animoto before so it was great to have you walk me through it. Your screencast is informative and detailed without dragging on. It seems like Animoto has lots of features and you did a nice job streamlining the information. I would say that one weakness of this site would be that there are watermarks on the final project if you are using the free package. I did however just see a comment from Jessica that is possible to use the 6-month trial run several times. Might be something to consider. I feel like Animoto is a combination of PowerPoint and iMove. Only it is more interesting and finished looking than PowerPoint and more user friendly than iMove. Animoto could be used in lots of ways in the classroom. I think it helps students demonstrate understanding. It also allows students to delve more deeply into their work. For the great Gatsby for example, students might have an understanding of the opulence of the time. But when designing the project they learn the music, jewelry, images from that time they can jump right in. Animoto makes a great resource for the classroom!

  4. Hi Esther,
I like that you showed the download process for Audacity and testing the helpful features available. I agree it is a bit confusing if you are doing anything other than simple recordings. It does require a great deal of work to learn to use to its fullest, but I think if you have the time and energy, it might be good for specific projects.

    Thanks for your demo!

  5. Hey Esther, I thought it was a good idea to include all of the steps that you took for downloading and setting up Audacity, because that is something that we will have to deal with if we decide to download it. Also, I agree with what you said throughout your screencast, it did seem pretty difficult to use, and not extremely user friendly. I feel like as a teacher, I would try not to use this with the students in the class, but instead, maybe I use it for recordings to send to them. Either way, thank you for review!

  6. Hi Esther,

Thank you for your video on audio editor Audacity. I am glad that you pointed out that there are some difficulties figuring things out when you first begin using the program. It makes me weary of using Audacity in the program. I would definitely steer clear of having students use the program for their presentations.
